Scorpaenopsis cacopsis Jenkins 1901, Titan Scorpionfish. Long third dorsal spine. Hawaiian island endemic. Due to its high regard as a food fish, its populations have been decimated by spearfishers. To twenty inches long. Big Island pix.

Scorpaenopsis oxycephala, the Tasseled Scorpionfish Have prominent tassels of skin on lower head and a long sloping head. Adults lack cirri around eyes

Scorpaenopsis papuensis (Cuvier 1829), Papuan Scorpionfish. To ten inches in length. Indo-pan Pacific. Adult and juvenile in Fiji.

Scorpaenopsis possi, Poss's Scorpionfish. Of the genus has a short snout, fewer pectoral fin rays (17 vs. 19, 20). Small or absent eye cirri. Red Sea, E. Africa to Polynesia, Australia and ROC.
