Flatfishes of the Family Pleuronectidae: Righteye Flounders

 

 

 

Family Pleuronectidae: Mainly marine, a few brackish species, rarely in freshwater. 

Range:

    Arctic, Atlantic, Pacific, Indian Oceans.

Pleuronichthys ritteri Starks & Morris 1907, the Spotted Turbot. Eastern Pacific coast; mid-California to Baja. To one foot in length. Aquarium photo.
