Puntius denisonii (Day 1865), Denison's Barb. Southeast Asia. To 15 cm in length. India endemic. From Neale: "Very popular here in the UK. Schooling, low-end tropical species that reaches about 15 cm. Indifferent to water chemistry, but does need lots of swimming space. Gregarious but expensive, so a fish for the wealthy!" Aquarium photo.

An unidentified Hypancistrus sp.

Merodontotus tigrinus Britski 1981, the Tigerstriped Catfish. To two feet, 60 cm. in length. Occurs in South America: Amazon River basin. An occasional, though expensive offering in the trade. Like many of the large members of this family, the Tigerstriped Catfish needs to have its food dropped/placed immediately in front of its mouth to detect it via its barbels, to trigger a feeding response.

Myxocyprinus asiaticus (Bleeker 1864), Chinese High-Fin Banded Shark. To two feet in length. Asia: China (Yangtze River basin).
