Scleropages formosus (Schlegel & Muller 1844), the Asian Bonytongue/Arowana. Southeast Asia and Indonesia. To three feet in length. Aquarium image. Protected by CITES I, but soon to change in the U.S.  (sold  in the orient... especially golden, red et al. color forms, "for good luck"). An albino one in Singapore at Aquarama in 09.

Watch those nets! Plecos should be ideally caught by coral-ing into a corner and picked up either by hand or in a specimen container. They often have bristles on their fins and often as parts of their gills... that get stuck but good... Necessitating the cutting of netting material (don't pull on the fish!).
 
Microgeophagus ramirezi (Myers & Harry 1948), the Ram Cichlid. a balloon-bellied sport here. South America; Orinoco River in Venezuela and Columbia. To two and a half inches in length. Cond.s: pH 5-6, dH 5-12, temp. 27-30 C. The most popular South American Dwarf Cichlid, frequently suffering for being kept in inappropriate water quality, setting, and lack of food. A "short bodied" variety... Ho buoy!
