Microspathodon chrysurus (Cuvier 1830), the Yellowtail
Damselfish, Atlantic Jewel Damsel. Tropical west Atlantic. To six inches
in length. A one inch juvenile in Cozumel 4/09. |

Mithrax spinosissimus, the Chanel Clinging Crab (aka
King Crab, Coral Crab, Spiny Spider Crab). Tropical West Atlantic.
Body/Carapace width to 7 inches. Largest TWA crab. Smooth claws of purplish
gray color with blunt tips. Hide during the day, forage by night. Cozumel
pix.

Mycetophyllia lamarckiana, Ridged Cactus, Large Cactus, Fungus
Coral. Colonies as flat, wavy-edged plates. Ridges fleshy, don't extend
to centers. Wide, shallow valleys, usually fleshy. Color variable:
browns, greens, grays. 6-12 inches in diameter. Cozumel 4/09. |
