Bodianus loxozonus (Snyder 1908), the Blackfin Hogfish. Western
Pacific: Japan, New Caledonia to Polynesia. To nearly nineteen inches in
length. Rarely imported. Like other members of the genus, feeds
primarily on hard shelled benthic invertebrates (mollusks and
crustaceans). Adult in the Denver Aquarium. |

Indo-Pacific; Red Sea, all of Indian Ocean to Hawai'i, Marquesas. To 39
cm. Found on sandy, silty bottoms. Males with prominent long pectoral

Indo-Pacific; Australia, Japan, Indonesia, Philippines. To a measly 30
mm. in length. Found in silty areas on Gorgonians and Sea Whips. N.
